REBECCA LEFEBVRE
Nature-inspired Fine Art

Here’s a sampling of my work from the past two years. As you can see, I love painting birds–especially when I have an opportunity to paint their eye(s). Seemingly, with one stroke they miraculously come alive. I also enjoy painting mountains inspired by the Colorado Rockies and ocean scenes that remind me of our life in Maine.

My preferred materials and surfaces include acrylic on canvas, acrylic on wood, acrylic on paper and, I absolutely love, ink on paper for meditative sessions. Having only been painting since January of 2022, I’ve come to fully embrace the value of childlike-wonder and my inherent curiosity. Each new subject, skill, tool and technique teaches me something new. Very rarely do I have a bad day in the studio, which is something I cherish and hold onto, especially after having worked in the NICU and as an end-of-life nurse.

Some of my favorite things about being an artist:

  • Nothing bad happens on the canvas

  • Painting mistakes offer golden opportunities

  • My paintings aren’t so precious that they can’t be painted over, cut up or reimagined

  • Under-paintings provide magic to the layers above; the way each experience adds depth, texture and wisdom to our lives

  • We’re all creative. Although many of us allow it to lie dormant, it is an inherent capability accessible whenever we’re ready

  • We should all tap into our creativity more often. We’d be a happier, more fulfilled species if we did
