WILD WHIMSY
September 2023 - January 2024
Denver, Colorado
Logan House Coffee
Solo Exhibition

During the hottest months of summer, I worked diligently in my new garden shed studio to create 10 pieces for my first exhibition in Denver. The walls in this location are massive, which offered me the chance to plan for a variety of large pieces (48” and greater) and refine some of the techniques I had begun to practice earlier in the summer.

Because the temperatures in my studio were often 90 degrees or more, preparing for this show taught me a lot about acrylics and how they standup to hot, outdoor environments. This forced me to create paintings I wouldn’t have thought possible. As a result, I like to work with dry or rapidly drying acrylics. They create a beautiful bead-like texture which holds new layers of paint in very unique ways; far different from open or fluid acrylics.
