WHAT I BELIEVE —

The Art of Noticing

A way of seeing, questioning and making space for what matters most

I use art, nature and creative practice to make thinking, questioning and talking about difficult things feel possible. The Art of Noticing is the philosophy that guides how I make, collaborate, and invite others to reflect, connect, and take action

What is the Art of Noticing?

It begins by paying attention—to ourselves, to one another, and the world around us. From there, noticing becomes a practice of curiosity, reflection, and self-agency; an invitation to see more clearly, question more purposefully, and act more intentionally.

Noticing is not passive. It’s the first step toward action.

THE THREE PILLAR FRAMEWORK —

Making Room for Possibility

The Art of Noticing is a simple practice—anyone can use—to approach ourselves, one another and the world we experience with greater curiosity and intention. By paying attention to what we might otherwise overlook, questioning what we think we know, and considering new possibilities—we create space for meaningful discovery and growth. What happens next is up to us. Each one of us has agency. We can turn our insight into action at anytime.

Step 1: Notice

Slow down. Pay attention to what's happening around you and within you. Look for patterns, relationships, tensions, and unexpected beauty. Get curious about what you might be missing or taking for granted.

Step 2: Reflect

Ask questions. Challenge familiar assumptions and consider perspectives different from your own. Explore what matters to you, why you believe what you believe, and what new understanding might emerge.

Step 3: Act

Choose what to do with what you've discovered. Try something new, create, start a conversation, or collaborate with others. Take one intentional step, however small, toward what you believe is possible.

MY EXPRESSIONS OF THIS PHILOSOPHY —

Community Groups

I create artful spaces and shared experiences that invite people and communities to notice what matters, explore different perspectives, and discover possibilities for connection, collaboration and meaningful change.

Murmuration

A global participatory artwork exploring individuality, belonging, and interconnectedness. Through the making and movement of handmade birds, we discover how individual actions can contribute to something larger than ourselves.

Reflection Decks

Nature-inspired, illustrated cards that invite us to slow down, notice more, and reflect on everyday life. Each offers a moment of curiosity, fresh perspective and an opportunity to make intentional choices.

Thoughts + Writings

Writings, stories and observations exploring the spaces between what we know, what we believe, and what might be possible. Invitations to question assumptions, consider new perspectives and think more deeply about being human.

THE WHY BEHIND THE WORK —

A Life of Noticing

I've spent a lifetime paying attention—witnessing, listening, being present and meeting people where they are. Decades of experience in social work, nursing, education and art have deepened my curiosity about what it means to be human, both individually and collectively.

Along the way, I've come to believe that meaningful change begins when we make room to notice more, question what we think we know and consider what's possible. I don't create art, words and tools to tell people what to think. I use each expression of this philosophy to invite curiosity, reflection and conversation—making space for people to think for themselves, discover their own wisdom and recognize their capacity to shape what comes next.
