Murmuration in Motion
A Global Participatory Public Artwork + Dynamic Expression of our Shared Humanity
An Evolving Participatory Artwork
A GLOBAL PARTICIPATORY PUBLIC ARTWORK —
Murmuration in Motion explores what it means to be an individual while belonging to something larger. Through handmade birds and shared participations, this evolving artwork invites reflection on movement, migration, interconnection, and the many ways we shape and our shaped by each other.
Each bird begins in my hands, then moves into the world and discover a new home—through new hands, new places and new stories. Together, they form a living, global murmuration—a dynamic expression of our shared humanity.

The First Departure—150 Birds
BIRDS OF PASSAGE —
The [First Departure] includes 150 original, handmade birds from Murmuration: The Dance of Starlings. Each of these birds has been repainted, individually numbered and provided a [Passport Card] that will travel with them as they’re released into the world.
Acquired birds can be kept, transformed or passed along. As they travel, the murmuration continues to grow through the hands and stories of people like you.
Participants are invited to share photographs, stories, modifications, and where their birds have landed. These contributions will gradually populate an interactive world map, allowing us to see how the original installation expands beyond Broomfield. Sharing is voluntary, and each participant decides how much of their bird's journey to make visible. This is only the beginning.
[Additional Departures] will introduce new birds, while exhibitions, community workshops and collaborative installations will invite others to create and contribute their own. My long-term goal is to grow the murmuration to at least 10,000 birds moving through communities around the world—each one carrying its own story and creating opportunities for human connection.
