The Art of Noticing
Making Space for Curiosity, Conversation & Possibility
I've always been curious about what makes us human—how we think, what we believe, and the ways we influence one another. Through art, writing, and shared creative experiences, I invite people to look closer, question assumptions, consider different perspectives, and discover what might be possible.
A Life of Noticing
I've spent much of my life observing, listening, and trying to understand people. After three decades in nursing, social work, and education, alongside my creative practice, have shaped how I see the world and deepened my curiosity about the human experience. I've come to believe that what we first notice is rarely the whole story. There's always another perspective to consider, a pattern we haven't recognized, or something meaningful hidden in the ordinary. I don't use art to tell people what to think. I use creativity to make room for questions, reflection, and conversations that might otherwise feel difficult. We don't have to think alike to learn from one another—or make something meaningful together.
Curiosity creates connection. Reflection deepens understanding. Art nurtures agency. The Art of Noticing is a simple approach to exploring ourselves, one another, and the world around us. It begins with paying attention, continues through thoughtful reflection, and invites us to decide what to do with what we've discovered.
02: The Practice
Slow down. Pay attention to what's happening around you and within you. Look for patterns, relationships, unexpected beauty, and things you might overlook.
Step 1: Notice
Get curious about what you've noticed. Question assumptions, consider different perspectives, and explore what else might be true.
Step 2: Reflect
Consider what to do with what you've discovered. Create something, start a conversation, make a different choice, or take one intentional step toward what's possible.
Step 3: Act
03: Writing & Musings
Some questions are worth sitting with. Through personal essays, observations, and reflections, I explore the ordinary and extraordinary experiences that shape our lives. My writing follows the questions that intrigue me—from individuality and belonging to the subtle ways we influence one another—and invites readers to consider their own perspectives.
