Murmuration in Motion | Acquire a Bird

A singular bird. A shared movement. A story without borders.

Murmuration in Motion is a growing global participatory public artwork exploring individuality, belonging, interconnectedness, and unity. Inspired by the remarkable movement of starling murmurations, this evolving project envisions 10,000 individually handcrafted birds of passage connecting people, places, and communities around the world.

More than a collectible artwork, your bird carries a story that continues with you. Whether it finds a special place in your home or travels onward as a gift, you become part of a growing global movement. Every acquisition directly supports future departures, community participation, public installations, and the continued expansion of Murmuration in Motion around the world.

• Each bird is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork, lovingly handcrafted by artist Rebecca Lefebvre using paper mâché, sculptural assemblage, and mixed media. Available in two sizes—small and large—each bird has its own distinctive character, textures, markings, and posture. Some lift their wings skyward, others stretch outward or angle downward. All feature signature black wings and tails with variations of black-and-white bodies. No two birds are alike, and the bird you receive will differ from those pictured—a celebration of the individuality at the heart of the movement.

• The First Departure marks the beginning of this extraordinary journey with an inaugural collection of just 100 original birds. Each is individually numbered and accompanied by a signed Bird Passport and Certificate of Authenticity, documenting its place in the founding collection. Your acquisition also includes a complimentary One Murmuration mini-deck, featuring 52 illustrated reflection cards exploring individuality, belonging, connection, and unity.
